Keap vs revenu: small business CRM or custom automation system?

8 July 2026 · by Adam Pilakis, founder of revenu

Keap vs revenu comparison: two similar automation machines, one wired to a phone and calendar with Australian-side connections

    Quick summary

Choose Keap if you want an established all-in-one CRM and automation platform with a serious automation builder, and your follow-up runs mostly on email. Choose revenu if you're an Australian service business whose leads live on the phone and in SMS, because Keap's text marketing and dedicated business line are US-only, and that's exactly where revenu starts.

    • Keap (formerly Infusionsoft, acquired by Thryv in late 2024) is a genuine all-in-one: CRM, automation, email, pipeline, landing pages, payments and bookings in one plan
    • revenu is the same category of idea, built for here: AI receptionist, missed call text-back, AU phone and SMS, CRM, bookings, follow-up, reviews and reactivation
    • This is the closest comparison in the whole series, and it gets decided by geography more than features
    • Keap runs about $249 to $299 USD a month plus a mandatory implementation fee from $500 USD. revenu is $599 + GST a month in AUD, month to month
    • Fair warning: if your business sells by email to a list, Keap is a serious option. This article says exactly when

Your business might not need more software. It might need fewer leaks.

Of every platform in this comparison series, Keap is the closest cousin to revenu. Same category, same customer, same promise: one system for CRM, automation, follow-up and payments, with implementation done for you. So this isn't a booking-tool-versus-system article. It's the fairest fight in the series, and it comes down to two things: who builds it, and where it lives.

spoiler: one of them can't text your customers from Australia ↓

    What Keap does well

Keap has been doing small business automation longer than almost anyone; it started life as Infusionsoft in 2001 and helped invent the category. In late 2024 it was acquired by Thryv and now runs as its own product inside that portfolio, still on the same promise: one plan, everything included. CRM, email, automation, pipeline, landing pages, quotes, invoices, payments and appointment booking, with no feature-gated tiers.

The automation builder is the crown jewel. Drag-and-drop campaigns, when-then logic, dozens of pre-built templates and AI-assisted plays, plus lead scoring so a sales team works the right contacts first. Implementation is part of the deal too: a paid onboarding package covers migration, done-for-you automations and strategy sessions, and every account gets a dedicated success manager. Phone support even runs on Australian business hours.

If your business sells by email to a list, courses, coaching, ecommerce-adjacent services, Keap is a genuinely serious platform with two decades of muscle behind it.

    03 The honest limits

Where Keap may not be enough

Here's the one that matters most for anyone reading this in Australia: Keap's text marketing, text broadcasts and dedicated business phone line are US-only, with one-to-one texting extending to Canada. The core CRM and email automation work globally, and the mobile app covers Australia, but the phone-and-SMS front door, the exact place most Australian service businesses leak money, isn't part of the package here. If your leads ring you, that's not a footnote. That's the comparison.

Then the bill's shape. As at July 2026, Keap lists around $249 USD a month on annual billing ($299 monthly) for 2 users and 1,500 contacts, plus a mandatory implementation fee starting at $500 USD. Extra users cost more per month, contact growth scales the price, and annual contracts carry an early termination fee. None of it is hidden, but in Australian dollars, with the exchange rate moving, the real monthly number lands a lot closer to revenu than the sticker suggests, before the US-only gaps are even counted.

And once implementation wraps, the running is yours. The builder is powerful, and powerful means someone has to keep designing, testing and maintaining campaigns as the business changes. Reviewers also note support chat waits can stretch, which matters when your follow-up engine is down on a Monday morning.

None of that makes Keap a bad platform. It's a strong one, built around an American small business with an email list. That's just a different business to a Melbourne plumber or a Brisbane clinic whose phone rings forty times a day.

    04 The other side

    Where revenu is different

revenu starts at the exact spot Keap can't reach from here: the Australian phone number. Missed call text-back within seconds, an AI employee answering calls and messages in your tone, SMS follow-up that actually sends from an AU number your customers recognise.

Around that front door sits the whole connected stack: enquiry capture, CRM and pipeline, bookings and payments, email follow-up, database reactivation, review requests, your website and funnels, and reporting. The framework behind the build is the rhythm: plug the holes first, then turn the tap on.

And where Keap's implementation package hands you the keys at the end, revenu's build never really hands over: I build it with you, live after the first 45-minute session, fully built over three sessions inside 14 days, then support and a monthly showcase call stay part of the price. The system keeps evolving because the person who built it is still in the room.

    The one-line version

Keap built a great automation engine. It just can't text your customers from Australia.

the closest fight in the series, decided by geography

Picture the same missed call in both systems. In Keap, the enquiry that arrives by email enters a beautifully built campaign. The one that arrives by phone at 11am while you're on the tools? There's no AU business line to catch it, no text-back, no AI picking up. In revenu, that call gets a text in seconds, the AI employee carries the conversation, and the job books itself. Same engine philosophy, different front door, and in a service business, the front door is where the money is.

    05 The money

Keap pricing vs revenu pricing in Australia

Keap, as listed at July 2026 in USD: one plan, everything included, around $249 a month billed annually or $299 month to month, covering 2 users and 1,500 contacts. Extra users bill per month, contact growth scales the cost, a mandatory implementation package starts at $500 USD, and annual contracts carry an early termination fee. Text and voice bundles exist but the marketing texts and business line are US-only. Check Keap's pricing page for current rates, and remember the AUD conversion moves your real number.

revenu is $599 + GST a month, flat, in Australian dollars, plus a $500 build fee up front (waived when a current client refers you). That includes the full build, valued at $3,000 to $5,000, an AI employee trained on how you work, your website or funnel, ongoing support and the monthly showcase call. Month to month, no lock-ins, no termination fees. Usage costs apply for calls, SMS, email and AI activity, with live usage pricing in AUD here, and there's an unlimited AI option to keep AI costs predictable.

Run the conversion and the gap nearly closes: Keap's annual plan plus implementation lands within cooee of revenu's price in AUD, before extra users and contact growth. At that point you're not comparing cheap against dear. You're comparing an email-first US engine you run against an AU phone-first system built and supported with you.

    06 The decision

Choose Keap if, choose revenu if

Choose Keap if: your business sells primarily by email to a list, you want two decades of automation-builder depth, your team can own campaign design after onboarding, and the US-only texting and phone line genuinely don't affect how your customers reach you.

Choose revenu if: you're an Australian service business, the phone and SMS are where enquiries live and leak, you want AI answering in seconds from a local number, and you'd rather a flat AUD price with the builder still in the room every month than a handover at the end of onboarding.

    07 Final verdict

    The verdict

If you need email-first CRM and automation with serious pedigree, choose Keap. It's the closest thing to revenu in this entire series, and for list-driven businesses it's earned its reputation twice over.

If your leads arrive by phone, text and DM, the way they do for almost every Australian trade, clinic and service business I meet, then the platform's front door has to live here, and Keap's doesn't. That geography, plus a builder who stays in the room, is the whole case for revenu. Comparing the wider CRM aisle? The HubSpot and Pipedrive comparisons cover the platform and pipeline ends of the same decision. Selling to an ecommerce list instead? The Klaviyo vs revenu comparison covers that lane.

    08 FAQs

    Keap vs revenu FAQs

    Does Keap work in Australia?

Partly. Keap's CRM, email automation and core features work globally, the mobile app covers Australia, and phone support runs on Australian business hours. But text marketing, text broadcasts and the dedicated business phone line are US-only as at July 2026, so the SMS and call side of follow-up isn't available to Australian businesses.

How much does Keap cost in Australia?

Keap prices in USD: around $249 a month billed annually or $299 month to month for 2 users and 1,500 contacts, plus a mandatory implementation fee from $500 USD, with extra users and contact growth billing on top. In Australian dollars the real monthly cost moves with the exchange rate; check Keap's pricing page for current rates.

    Who owns Keap now?

Thryv. Keap, which started as Infusionsoft in 2001, was acquired by Thryv Holdings in late 2024 and continues to operate as its own product inside the Thryv portfolio. Existing accounts kept running through the change, and the platform is now also sold within Thryv's bundled packages alongside Thryv's own tools.

    Is Keap better than revenu?

They're the closest pair in this series, so it comes down to fit. Keap is better for email-first businesses that want a veteran automation builder they'll run themselves. revenu is better for Australian service businesses that need the phone answered: AI response in seconds, AU SMS, missed call text-back, and a system built and supported with you.

    Does revenu replace Keap?

Yes, for most Australian service businesses. revenu covers the CRM, automation, email, pipeline, bookings, payments and landing pages that Keap offers, and adds the parts Keap can't deliver here: an AU business number, SMS follow-up, missed call text-back and an AI employee answering calls. We map your campaigns before moving anything.

Is revenu more expensive than Keap?

On stickers, they're closer than they look. Keap's annual plan converts to roughly revenu's territory in AUD once the mandatory implementation fee, extra users and contact scaling land, and revenu's $599 + GST is flat, month to month, with the build, support and monthly showcase call included. Compare total AUD cost, not the USD headline.

Not a demo, and not a pitch. We'll look at where your enquiries come from, how many arrive by phone and SMS versus email, where follow-up falls over, and whether revenu actually makes sense. If Keap's email engine genuinely fits how you sell, I'll tell you that too.
